October 9th isn't that far away, so I guess it's time for a new Zombieland poster that actually shows the stars of the film. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the horror-comedy stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin...and there they all are on the poster.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of editing promo shots of all the actors together to make the poster. It's just difficult territory for whomever designs these things. They are given stills of the cast, then told to color-correct, touch-up and assemble a poster from these assets. That's how you end up with posters like these, where Abigail Breslin's overlap with Emma Stone looks a little...off.

Just focus on Breslin's right hand (on your left) and work down the divide. It's close, but the jacket blends with the artifical shadow and you can't really tell she's holding a shovel so it looks sort of like Breslin's hand is embedded in Stone's stomach. Then, it becomes obvious that they re-lit Jesse Eisenberg's shotgun in photshop to make the lines more defined.

I dunno. This poster might do a better job of selling the movie, but it has a worse chance of ending up on my wall. Am I being picky and petty? Yes. But "floating head" posters and posters like these are more about luring you into the theater and less about the art of it.
